We have recently realized that there is no such more a desired invitation than laser cut invitations. As this is a medium we thoroughly enjoy working with, we are only more than pleased when a client requests laser work on their wedding stationery.

As a studio we are able to laser cut through most materials from paper, perspex, vinyl, heavy cardstocks to wood and soft metals. So in other words – the sky is the limit!

Have your guests names or words of love and inspiration cut out of perspex or wood or bring a stark venue to life through laser cut vinyls of an image of choice stuck up on the walls.

We also have a lovely range of perspex table numbers to hire in clear, mirror or black perspex. Alternatively have your own made up in the font style and colour of your choice!

We will be launching a whole new range of laser cut patterns to choose from soon, so watch this space! In the mean time please contact our studio to bring your laser cut dreams to life on (021) 981 9682  or info@secretdiary.

We are proud to announce that Secret Diary will be featured on Pasella in October! Please watch our blog for pics and more details as to the EXACT date!

For those of you who dont know…..Pasella is a trendy lifestyle show whereby they feature and interview many different SA business men and women that are making their mark in their industry as well as present viewers with inspirational ideas for day to day life and eventing.

We were lucky enough to be featured on the show as part of an amazing group of service providers in the wedding industry (who we HIGHLY recommend). The following list of people are so amazing and talented in so many ways I could blog about them ALL DAY!

A big Thank you to Jana the amazing and ever so patient producer of the show who helped me brush up on my Afrikaans, as well as the lovely Mienkie for being an absolute pleasure to work with!

    Herewith the Pasella dream team:

Jaco van Loggerenberg from Just Jack Wedding and Event coordination is what every bride needs and should have! His co-ordination skills surpassed my greatest expectations and he was able to pull off an amazing shoot in almost no time at all. Brides to be – this is what you want out of a coordinator!

    Find Jaco on http://www.just-jack.com

Jo-Lize from Floral Affairs is perfection personified when it comes to flowers and she does it with such ease! Along with Jo-Lize comes a lifelong passion for all things floral and this is apparent in all her work. I was lucky enough to take home some of the flowers that Jo-Lize used for the shoot and my goodness did they bring life to our studio! A great combination of blossoms, tulips and roses. Jo-Lize you are amazing!

Anneri from Nelle Cakes makes the cakes from the pages of a Martha Stewart Wedding magazine look like they were done in an easy bake oven! She is going to take the cake industry by storm. If Marie Antoinette had her own personal cake maker it would have been Anneri!

We recently took our show on the road as they say and spent the weekend at the Tygervalley Bridal Expo!

We had a fabulous response from the public and all in all it was an amazing success! We loved being able to meet so many  brides to be and are almost booked up with consultations following the expo!

We made sure we catered for all markets and tried to have as much of our different ranges on display as possible. From the laser cut invitations and stationery, perspex laser cut decor pieces, invitations , menus, seating charts, parasols to the  paper lanterns and much more.

It was also great fun being able to exhibit next door to our friends from Val De Vie Polo Estate as well as the twins Marinda from IPL Laser Clinic and Marietjie Hurter the oh so lovely makeup artist.

Thank you to Cream Event Library for putting on a great expo and we will without a doubt  be back there next year!

Just a few snippets of what weve been up to the last few weeks!

Colour is looking bright for this upcoming season! We have been rather lucky with so many of our brides to be requesting bright summer colours for their wedding stationery and what better way to make a stylish stationery statement than to go bold for summer.

Being a avid lover of all things bright this was right up my alley!

Rozana and Neils wedding is one we are both proud to work on and super excited to see!

When Rozana approached us recently to tackle the task of doing her stationery and gift favours we were more than happy to be involved!

Rozanas colour choice was one of simplistic monochromatic elegance – black and white! She has chosen to have monogrammed favour boxes done for both the ladies and gents filled with gorgeous keepsake pressies. We are also doing lots of laser cut perspex work as well as a nifty solution to table number holders!

Stay tuned for more follow up pics of this amazing couple and their stationery! Our prediction is that this wedding is going to be one of the  best of the upcoming season.

Here are 25 of our favorite ideas which we’d like to share with you, incorporate one or all of them into your wedding or event:

    1. Have bespoke drinks coasters made up featuring your names, initials or an approporiate wedding related phrase, such as “eat, drink, marry”
    2. Provide your guests with note cards and markers at their tables for them to write well wishes or funny messages. Then get your photographer to photograph them holding up their “creations”.
    3. Write a quote from the first movie you saw together on your table number signs or have the quote printed on your stationery.
    4. Make your cocktails even cooler by adding custom made swizzle sticks either made out of perspex or adorned with little tags saying “drink me” or “I do”.
    5. Personalise your table settings with anecdotes about each guest inside their place card.
    6. If your worried that guests might feel offended by getting seated at table number 14, then why not give your tables names instead of numbers. They could be cities youve lived in, places you’ve gone on dates, favourite meals shared together and so on.
    7. Create a stamp with your initials or monogra on it and stamp everything from your stationery to your napkins.
    8. Have your napkins custom printed with either your names / initials or have your guests names printed on the napkin so that it doubles up as both a napkin and place setting.
    9. For a clever twist to table entertainment create your own crossword puzzles and quiz’s about romantic related topics or you and your relationship history. See how well your friends and family really know you.
    10. Have place mats made of photo collages of memorable moments youve shared in the past!
    11. Have a  banner made with your names, the wedding date or a welcome message for your guests and attach it between trees, fence posts or along the side of your venue.
    12. Show how sweet your love is with a candy buffet in your themed colour of choice. Provide brown paper bags for guets to fill before sealing with a selection of ribbons and tags.
    13. Have printed tags made for all the different sweeties on display along with custom made perspex sweetie picks and tongs.
    14. Plant pretty seedlings in terracotta pots and insert little custom made wooden sign sticks with the guests name engraved out of the wooden sign.
    15. For unusual gift favours, give guests little fancy dress kits with moustaches, masquerade masks, eye patches and silly hats. Add a pack of cards or a mini dice game for added entertainment.
    16. Number your tables using significant dates such as the year you were born, the date your parents got married, the date you met etc
    17. If you and your partner have a special drink serve it at the wedding with a little tag attached explaining why you both love this drink, when and where it was drunk before.
    18. Have your seating chart only consist of pictures and allow your guests to “hunt” for their seats. This will be a great ice breaker and will give them something to do while you are away having photographs taken.
    19. Have printed paddle hand signs made saying “hooray” , “congratulations” or “yay” for guests to wave at the end of the ceremony.
    20. Instead of favours have a single sparkler attached to a custom box of matches printed in your favourite colours. This will make for beautiful photographs!
    21. For outdoor weddings or parties create little picnic boxes for each guest. Pack with your favourite snacks and decorate with ribbon and a thank you tag of your choice. Boxes can also be printed on.
    22. Order pencils from us with your name, initials or special message printed or engraved onto it. Tie small bundles together with ribbon for personal and useful gifts.
    23. Serve minature pots of ice cream in your chosen themed colour with an eco friendly wooden spoon engraved with your initials, custom artwork and or special message.
    24. Have each guests name cut out of perspex or wood. (Variety of colours available) This adds to both the table decor and makes each of your guests feel extra special.
    25. Announce near the end of the evening that the center piece, piece of decor or one of the flower arrangements are up for grabs and that if you have a sticker under your seat that you get to take the prize home with you. Guests always love a lucky draw or prize to be won!
