Letter Pressed Enchantment

When one pairs new with old, you have to have an exceptional eye for putting certain elements together. The elements need to provide a contrast to one another while still creating a kind of harmony, which tends to be difficult to get right. Perhaps the main principle of design, when it comes to this overlapping of different time periods, is to keep the design relatively clean, so that each element gets the spotlight equally.

This flat, square card emphasises again just how beautiful and powerful the old printing technique of letter pressing really is. The impression that the letter pressing makes into the paper accentuates the hand-crafted feel of the save-the-date. The overall design is contemporary, with two contrasting typefaces being used. The sans serif typeface conveys the sense of modernity while the script typeface conveys a warmer, more romantic appeal.

So throughout, the save-the-date has the underlying theme of contrast, which is what makes it so attractive to the naked eye. The colour palette is dove grey and white – two neutral colours that can be seamlessly integrated into any other colour platte. The dove grey also works well when paired with gold, silver or even rose gold foiling, as another option.

The year of the Radiant Orchid has brought beautiful deep magentas into many a design as well as inspiration for weddings and events. It’s striking, bold, and makes a royal statement. We teamed with Strictly weddings, Fleur le Cordeur, and Tasha Seccombe Photography for their Fall | Winter Wedding inspiration for 2014. Our gold heat foiled invites and velum pocket were a perfect component for the dramatic black dress and daring floral accessories.

Rock ‘n Roll Wedding Bells

Everybody let’s Rock! Georgina and Niall did just that for their Rock ‘n Roll themed wedding which seemed to be a high rolling good time! Their existing logo (created by a close friend of the couple) inspired the design for their Save the Dates, Order of Service, Seating chart and decorative stickers. To add to the rocking theme, modern black and red laser cut perspex wording was used to add an element of fun to the tables illuminating the vinyl place setting.

INSPIRATION SERIES – A Floral Wedding

We are so thrilled to partner with the new wedding and inspiration feature blog, Your Little Blog, as the key stationer… show-casing current trends, looks and beautiful visions. Our first (of many) encompasses the Floral movement making use of an eco basis (of paper and twine) with gracious splashes of elegance through the gold stamp foiling, glitter envelope liners and of course, blind embossing. Secret Diary loves Vintage!

Definitely our wedding invitation of the week, this amazing piece of stationery was created for Jessica and Greg who are having vintage post card inspired wedding invitations.

Stacey our amazing second senior designer created this little gem of an invite and will be assisting Greg and Jess with the rest of their stationery in the coming months!
