Stationery & Wedding Feature | Alexia and Peter | Destination Wedding in Fiji

Earlier this year we had the privilege of designing invitations and wedding day stationery for Alexia and Peter, a couple from New Zealand. We are in absolute awe when looking at the photos and seeing how beautiful their special day came together in Fiji.

We created a couture design for their invites, which included a gold ornate perspex invitation, a textured additional card with gold foiled text and a custom monogram. The invite was placed inside a white textured envelope with a custom-made wax seal. The classic gold and white theme continued throughout their stationery designs in the four-page program fans, napkin bands, and on-the-day decor.

From the all-white floral arrangements and island garlands hanging from the ceilings to the casual reception dinner on the beach, this wedding feels like it hit the perfect combination between a destination and traditional style.

Our E-store Pick | Soleil Invitation

Today we’re showcasing the Soleil invitation that we made for a couple who’s big day is drawing near. Their invite has graced our online store and if you wanted to get your hands on a Soleil invite of your own, you can now do that!

The invite comprises of two digitally printed discs that are held together by a bradlet pin at the top and it comes with an envelope made from brown kraft paper and a matching liner.

The couple opted for a modern and clean-lined monogram that is showcased with the simple MT and NT that is stacked between two straight strokes. The graphic patterns – shades of pink shapes and black dots – on the cards and liner also bring in that element of simplicity and it makes this such a frill and fuss-free invitation piece.

Wedding Feature: Tatum & Piero

A while ago we designed Tatum and Piero’s lovely navy and white wedding invitations. We talked about them in a blog post here, because they were just such cool and quirky pieces!

I love how to see how invitations and stationery come together in the end as a cohesive vision. This invite and stationery suite was no different. I love how the couple’s personalities shone through the little touches in the stationery – from the cutest “best day ever” phrase recurring throughout to the hilarious “sit yo’ ass down!” on the seating chart. It seems like one really gets to know the couple by the stationery and quirky details they incorporated into their special day.

Moodboard 13: Blush pink & Rose Gold

Mood board 13 has brought us to the breathtaking combination of blush pink and rose gold! A stunning colour combination if we do say so ourselves… We just adore the contrast between the soft pink and the solid metallic foiling. When we are contacted by a client requesting these colours, we JUMP at the opportunity to assist them with creating a one-of-a-kind invitation, unique to them in every way possible. We feel that a wedding invitation is so much more than just a piece of paper! In our exquisite team’s hands, a simple piece of paper is turned into a masterpiece…

We are extremely honoured to showcase one of our latest invitations consisting of this colour combination. We created this STUNNING blush pink laser cut, pocket invitation for Kaela & Mwewa. This invitation consisted of an intricate blush pink laser cut pocket with a cream shimmer paper invitation card, that was letterpressed in grey with the couple’s names foiled in rose gold. To round the card off, we embossed a beautiful pattern of a tree and birds on the side of their card.

Tales Of A Land Far Away

I know the title of the blog sounds slightly mystical, or even like this post might incorporate a fairytale, but it won’t. Typically, some wedding invitations convey a corny fairytale-feel. As designers, we understand that it becomes easy to fall into this trap – creating the expected, pretty or mystical invite. Invites like that are “comfortable” because clients aways know what they’re going to get and are familiar with the style. But for us, that kind of invite tends to convey the literal meaning and symbolism behind weddings, not the lateral thinking.

The below invite that we developed is original in its design – it has an ornate laser cut pocket, with a strong french design influence. One could argue that it has some intricate moroccan design elements too, incorporated into the overall item. Perhaps the thing that makes this invite so appealing, is the unique design influences from all over the world, and the ideal that French is almost always synonymous with love and romance.

The intricate invite contains an insert card that is digitally printed, but allows the freedom of all kinds of finishes such as foiling or letter pressing. The invite also comes in a range of colours and metallic tones that can convey your wedding colour scheme seamlessly.

Moodboard 11 has brought us to the classic combination of Grey & White! And we say classic because we certainly feel that WE will never get tired of this stunning combination. As a matter of fact, we jump at the opportunity when our clients tell us that these colours are their wedding colours! When we hear “grey & white”, we automatically think elegance, sophistication, stylish, effortless glamour… the list could go on forever.

We have decided to take things up a notch with this mood board inspired by grey & white. Therefor we combined this beautiful, intricate charcoal grey laser cut pocket with a simplistic A5 insert card, digitally printed in charcoal text.

Love & Light Invitation – Erna & Damian

Today on the blog we feature the beautiful and colourful floral inspired wedding invitation of Erna and Damian. The summer wedding was held in Paarl and Peartree captured stunning pictures of the couple at the Boschendal Wine Estate in December. The Love & Light invitation that we designed for Erna and Damian’s special day consists of a brown laser cut folder with a flower and leaf motive. Each craft paper folder is also finished with brown twine and a personalised leaf-shaped name card. The inside of the folder contains three digitally printed information cards with a beautiful watercolour design. Each card has an envelope with the same floral patterned liner to complete this colourful invite. This couple’s brightly coloured invitation definitely provided family and friends with a hint of what to expect on the day of the wedding. The bridesmaid dresses and arrangements of flowers is perfectly complemented by the Love & Light invitation.

Our Love Travels

One of the recent projects I absolutely loved working on is called the Love Travels invitation. The countries on the front card can be edited to represent the different places where a couple met or came from. It is amazing to think that people from all over the world, from different religions and culture can get together and find love between them. I am not a very big Romantic, but I can identify with being in a long-distance relationship and trying your best to make things work. This invite, to me, is the epitome of what should make a marriage celebration special. The coming together of families and friends from different places to celebrate the love felt between two people. The Love Travels invitation is made up of two cards, the one card has fine laser cut details and the other card is digitally printed with the wedding and venue details. The cards are held together with twine and a wooden embellishment which lends a rustic feel to this invite.

This invite is also great for couples who love to travel, who are inviting guests from afar or throwing a destination wedding. These invitations are quite popular at the Secret Diary studio and it is quite obvious why. It is a fun twist on an old idea and makes your guests feel like they are invited to a really special event for a night.
