Moodboard 3: Blushing Bride

This Monday’s mood board is based off the Anneke & Kelvin invite; we introduce an invite that is composed of all the finer things in life. The invite has a soft rustic feel about it, conveyed by the fine detailed gold foiled leaves, that branch over the invite, as well as the wooden laser cut tag with the couple’s wreath monogram engraved on it.

The invite suite is made using a nude shimmer paper which has a romantic and feminine feel to it. The text is digitally printed in a charcoal grey sans serif to enhance the modern look and feel of the invite. The colour palette of the invite, mainly comprised of nude, pink and gold tones not only works well for the invite suite, but offered plenty of opportunity and variety for the creation of the wedding stationery.

Moodboard 16: Cosmo Inspired

Mood board 16 has brought us to a stylish, theme-inspired wedding. Most of the time when we hear “themed wedding” we immediately think ‘kitsch’. However, we have made it one of our goals to create a themed wedding invitation that changes the perception of a themed wedding completely! We want “stylish, elegant, glamorous and sophisticated with a hint of fun”, to be the words that come to mind when themes are mentioned.

To showcase a little of what we are talking about, have a look at the beautiful cosmo-inspired wedding invitation that we designed for a recent photo shoot. This invitation suite consists of a laser cut and engraved navy pocket (yes, we are able to engrave on paper as well); a silver, foiled and letter pressed invitation card digitally printed with a stunning cosmo background that includes an RSVP card. This stunning invitation is placed inside a silver envelope consisting of the same laser cut and engraved envelope liner as the pocket. A masterpiece in its own right…

Moodboard 15: Winter Wonder

We are currently in the heart of winter and desperately trying to keep warm in this cold and wet weather and we have decided that with this mood board we want to heat things up a bit… with beautiful, warm colour tones! You might not need a reminder of how cold it is outside, but we hope the beauty of this winter-inspired wedding mood board will warm you right up.

If you fancy yourself and your fiancé a bit of a daring couple, why not consider a beautiful winter wedding? We have just the invitations to set a warm tone for your elegant celebration. We would suggest the use of warm colour tones such as gold and blush pink combined with brilliant white. This colour scheme was used in this little artwork consisting of a stunning intricate laser cut gate folder pocket, a white insert card that has all text stamp foiled in gold and then placed into a white envelope with a stunning gold glitter paper liner to round things off!

Moodboard 13: Blush pink & Rose Gold

Mood board 13 has brought us to the breathtaking combination of blush pink and rose gold! A stunning colour combination if we do say so ourselves… We just adore the contrast between the soft pink and the solid metallic foiling. When we are contacted by a client requesting these colours, we JUMP at the opportunity to assist them with creating a one-of-a-kind invitation, unique to them in every way possible. We feel that a wedding invitation is so much more than just a piece of paper! In our exquisite team’s hands, a simple piece of paper is turned into a masterpiece…

We are extremely honoured to showcase one of our latest invitations consisting of this colour combination. We created this STUNNING blush pink laser cut, pocket invitation for Kaela & Mwewa. This invitation consisted of an intricate blush pink laser cut pocket with a cream shimmer paper invitation card, that was letterpressed in grey with the couple’s names foiled in rose gold. To round the card off, we embossed a beautiful pattern of a tree and birds on the side of their card.

Tales Of A Land Far Away

I know the title of the blog sounds slightly mystical, or even like this post might incorporate a fairytale, but it won’t. Typically, some wedding invitations convey a corny fairytale-feel. As designers, we understand that it becomes easy to fall into this trap – creating the expected, pretty or mystical invite. Invites like that are “comfortable” because clients aways know what they’re going to get and are familiar with the style. But for us, that kind of invite tends to convey the literal meaning and symbolism behind weddings, not the lateral thinking.

The below invite that we developed is original in its design – it has an ornate laser cut pocket, with a strong french design influence. One could argue that it has some intricate moroccan design elements too, incorporated into the overall item. Perhaps the thing that makes this invite so appealing, is the unique design influences from all over the world, and the ideal that French is almost always synonymous with love and romance.

The intricate invite contains an insert card that is digitally printed, but allows the freedom of all kinds of finishes such as foiling or letter pressing. The invite also comes in a range of colours and metallic tones that can convey your wedding colour scheme seamlessly.

Moodboard 11: Grey & White

Moodboard 11 has brought us to the classic combination of Grey & White! And we say classic because we certainly feel that WE will never get tired of this stunning combination. As a matter of fact, we jump at the opportunity when our clients tell us that these colours are their wedding colours! When we hear “grey & white”, we automatically think elegance, sophistication, stylish, effortless glamour… the list could go on forever.

We have decided to take things up a notch with this mood board inspired by grey & white. Therefor we combined this beautiful, intricate charcoal grey laser cut pocket with a simplistic A5 insert card, digitally printed in charcoal text.

Moodboard 7: Stylish in Blue

With mood board 7 in our series we are going blue…a very stylish blue! We have decided to combine this beautiful blue inspired invitation with a wedding that emphasises the finer details in design and decor. We created this beautiful blue wedding invitation for Lizel & David.

This invitation consists of a very intricate blue laser cut pocket with the couples initials laser cut out of the centre of the pocket. A single insert card is placed inside of the pocket that is digitally printed with the monogram embossed at the top of the card. The embossing further emphasises attention to detail. A stunning layering effect is created with the cut out details of the pocket and the card placed inside. This provides the guest receiving the invitation with a hint of what is hidden inside… The invitation is then placed inside an A5 size envelope with a beautiful bird and floral pattern to finish off this detailed invite.

Dupi and Hale’s Invitations

I want to share this STUNNING beaut of an invitation with you all on this blustery monday morning. We designed it for Splendid Affairs clients, Dupi and Hale last year and we love the final result. The invitation consists of 2 digitally printed cards which are wrapped in a delicate cream lace lasercut folder.

This is then enclosed in semi-translucent paper and placed in an A5 box. The box has their wreath monogram letterpressed into the lid and finished off with a cream and white printed ribbon and a lasercut clear perspex name tag.

We all like to give the outside world the illusion of being calm, collected and having your life together (Even though you’re wearing the shirt you found in the 3-week-old laundry pile that lives on the ominous chair that you haven’t REALLY seen in years). One of the ways we achieve this is by matching things. Matching shoes to handbags, hair to nails, makeup to dresses and we guarantee we’re always drinking wine out of our shiniest and fanciest glass (There’s only one). So why not convince your friends and family that you absolutely were NOT the bridezilla that everyone keeps saying you were (throw an ashtray at someone’s head ONE time!) by perfectly matching your invitations to your wedding dress?
